Last Night's Dream; Birding

I was going to different places in a new area, bird watching. Every so often I'd get together with a couple of acquaintances to report on what I saw. I was very excited & happy about my sightings.

This dream was probably inspired by recent comments here about dreaming about bird watching. I wish I'd remembered what birds I saw--I believe a hawk was one (due to the actual sighting the other day)--but it's been a long, tiring week & I needed my sleep again.

With that, I'm finally caught up on posting recent dreams here. *whew* Sorry for the delay!

You got a nice shot of that cardinal! He looks as if he's posing.

Lana, do you keep a "life list" of the birds you see?

Lana Gramlich said...

Steve; Yes. I woke up very happy!

Shauna; The cardinal seems to be keeping a wary eye on the squirrel as he works on a sunflower seed. Kind of made me laugh. We have a little book we keep titled "Visitors to the Hermitage" in which we note every animal (not just birds,) that we see here. One of the very first posts on this blog was that list (as it was at the time, in Nov. Since then we've added at least goldfinches & dark eyed juncos.) I don't keep a list of every bird I've ever seen, as I couldn't possibly remember them all. I do post to eBird, too, though, so I can always review my reports to see what I've seen where & when. eBird is a great program & resource.

It's interesting to "meet" someone else who remembers their dreams in such detail. I've always been told that I'm unusual for that trait.

Jessica; Thanks for stopping by. It took some practice & effort, actually, but comes much easier to me these days. It's an interesting subject, certainly. Nice to meet you!

Nice cardinal picture, he's looking right at you!

Lana Gramlich said...

Chris; They don't often alight in that tree (right outside my back window,) so this shot was a rare treat (squirrel & all.)

When you go to sleep tonight, try to imagine you have a birding checklist with you and see how many species you can check off in your dreams!-A dreamed list of birds-perfect!

I agree with Steve "a nice dream" :)

I had a recurring dream which involved a bird (it haunted me that much I wrote a post about it on my blog) the strange thing was I actually saw the bird from my dreams in real life! The thing was, we don't have any birds like the one I saw in this country ...

;)

Larry; Good idea!

Miladysa; Very interesting! Do you remember what kind of bird it was?

Love the shot - didn't spot the squirrel for a few seconds. The birds attitude is telling!

Lana Gramlich said...

Julie; Thanks & yes, very telling.

Iana - I have pasted the two links to the posts below. The first one is my 'real life' experience and the second one is my 'dream life experience'.

I would love to hear what you make of them :)

Miladysa; The important part is what those 2 experiences mean to you, of course. The bird probably showed up in the dream because you saw it just a few days before & it was unusual. It fits in with the whole Native American theme, of course. Some would suggest that you were a Native American in a past life, but what do YOU make of it?

Agreed :)

I just enjoy it!

Miladysa; Yes, very intriguing, at any rate. :)
