The Causeway Bridge is barely visible (& then only when enlarged,) way in the distance on the right half of this photo.
3 coots and an egret. There were many coots in the area & they were all kicking up quite a racket.
Red bellied woodpeckers are very common here, so I was delighted to see this red headed woodpecker for a change.
We watched this egret fishing for a while.
One group of the dozens of robins that were in the area.

Liked the stunning sky shot with the Causeway Bridge - didn't realize it was longest in the world.
Loved the flying egret. A great park.
The light and reflection in the bridge shot are perfect!
Love the pictures! Looks like a really cool place. :*)
The light in the picture of the bridge is so cool.
I love egrets and was glad you got such a nice shot of one. Aren't they elegant birds? I was pleased to discover that we have them here in California, despite being in the desert.
Julie; Yes, the Causeway Bridge is quite a structure. Pretty neat, the 1st time you cross it. Pretty boring past that, unfortunately. Some nice views of the moon over New Orleans at times, although stopping points are few & far between. Often times pelicans will soar alongside on the thermals created by the bridge. That's kind of cool.
Charles; It was a great day, all around. The new boardwalk is great.
Jacob; Thank you. :)
DH; Thanks. Yes, it IS a pretty cool place. Large & historical, too. Lots to see & do. Slowly but surely coming back from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina.
Shauna; Thank you. Yes, I absolutely love egrets (& all of those big, wading birds, really.) Very stately.
What a lovely walk.
Reminds me of Northern Ontario in the spring.
No egrets, though some get lost and end up here after a hurricane.
But lovely blue herons!
Ivan; I love blue herons, too. We had a HUGE one in our back yard around this time last year. Ironically a friend was visiting from Canada at the time!
Beautiful photographs!
Your Robins and soooo much bigger than our Robins ;]
So many beautiful pictures -- Lana, you almost are making me like nature which is scary!!!! Ha! Seriously, truly gorgeous shots.
These are all such amazing photos! They look almost 3 day and I can jump in and join the birds!
That first photo is stunning.
Terrific photos! I love the way you cropped the coot & egret picture, nice! Looks like a wonderful day you had for an afternoon out.
:)
Miladysa; Leaving for work this morning there were about 60 robins in my yard. I'll miss them when they head back north.
Michelle; Thanks. :)
Mon@rch; Wouldn't jumping in & joining them be cool? Even just for a little while...
Travis; So far it seems we've had partly cloudy skies every time we go here, so we're always assured of magnificent views.
Chris; The weather's been lovely. High 70s (& no sn*w!)
Amazing shots. There's something haunting there, especially the causeway bridge in the distance . . .
Erik; It was so deliciously quiet, with only the slightest sound coming off the distant bridge...
Lana I just love your photos. I've got a beautiful red cardinal that comes visiting every once in awhile. I'm always amazed when I see him. Nature is incredible.
Ello; You need to stop by "Charles & Lana's Cardinal Emporium." We had 8 males & 2 females out there this morning. I'm looking forward to the impending chicks & am uber-glad I have my digital camera this time around (with movie capability.)
Nature rocks. (Pardon the pun.)
Fantastic photos, Lana. Sounds if you and Charles had a great day trip.
Marvin; Thanks. We do enjoy our weekend hikes. :)
Thanks for taking me back home. I was on that original boardwalk friday b4 Katrina saying goodbye! I know those ponds and birds and skies oh too well. spent many hours with chestwaders and bino's in those swamps. I miss home so much, but theres nothing left there for me now. if i can find them i will send pics of 3 deer standing on that boardwalk one morning while walking with my sons. Sooo beautiful!
thanks again- great work
