Etc. Stuff & LND; Canada & Church

I went back to Canada for a visit. J.M. was in the middle of Highway 3 in Gasline, doing skateboard tricks. A small crowd had gathered to watch, as he was very good. Later I went back to a Church I belonged to. It didn't get the crowds it used to. The priest (a woman,) asked me to say a few words. I went up to the pulpit, but the mic now seemed to be connected to adjustable shower panels in the pulpit & I couldn't adjust anything without getting sprayed in the face. After fumbling around & getting wet for a few seconds, I bowed out. I wasn't embarrassed. Later I was thinking about J.M. doing his skateboard tricks again.

I lived in Gasline for much of my stay in Canada. J.M. was my friend's son, who is into snowboarding & moved out west a while back. The Church part is intriguing, as I was raised Jewish & tend to be an antitheist these days. Clearly the Church is not actually a church here & more likely represents something else.

Another picture from Niagara today. This is a shot of a cliff on the American side of the river, a few miles downriver from the Falls. Just out of the picture on the right is the Niagara Whirlpool.

Bad storms moved through southern Louisiana last night. Some tornadoes were spawned, but all we got was thunderstorms with 1/4" hail.
Our trio of brown headed nuthatches is definitely working on a nesting cavity near the house. They've made a lot of progress in the last few days. I'm totally psyched.
A bluebird stopped by for a short visit this morning. They're probably looking for nesting sites, as well, as we don't see them here very often.

Beautiful shots of Niagara. The symbolism od dreams -- been musing on that lately, too (though not with a journal yet)

The name Gasline is excellent b/c/ it's so droll.

Reading your blog has inadvertantly helped me to start remembering my own dreams.

I love that photo. I've never been to Niagara (ha, Viagara rhymes with it, just thought of that) but hope to one day.

Erik; My friends & I used to pronounce "Gasline" differently in a pathetic attempt to make it sound exotic. *L*

Christine; Cool on the dreams! Glad you like the picture. Yes, Niagara & Viagra rhyme, but Niagara Falls, where Viagra (allegedly) rises. ;)

I will now have post those frozen Niagara Falls if I can find them for you! Great pictures!

Spring is a long way off from here still!

I like our nest.

Lana Gramlich said...

Michelle; I posted a photo of Niagara in Winter a while back, too. It truly is amazing. I know Spring's a long way off yet up there. That's why I'm down here now. *L*

Charles; Me, too. (Perhaps especially because we didn't even have to repeated smash our faces into a tree to make it. *whew!*)

Lana, you sure have a way with words:

``The mic now seemed to be connected to adjustable shower panels in the pulpit.''

Wonderful ....

Lana Gramlich said...

David; There really was no other way to describe it. The shower panels are from a recent commercial on TV, but I can't remember the name of the company, so I haven't been able to find a link that shows what I'm talking about. Dreams are strange things, at any rate!

Lana Gramlich said...

Charles; Ack...that's "repeatedly" not "repeated." My bad. A rare typo!

Interesting dream; and I've got a shot of the whirlpool somewhere ...I'll dig out my Canadian stuff sometime.

Lana Gramlich said...

Julie; I've got a shot of the whirlpool in Autumn...somewhere. <:\ I've also been over it (in the Aero Car,) & in it (in a Niagara Whirlpool Jet Boat. Now THAT was something!)

Love your photo and Niagara Falls is such a fun place to visit! Whirlpool is the first place that I saw a little gull flying around !

I don't think I will be able to look at a pulpit now without thinking "shower" in my mind lol

Another super duper photograph. I think you should have your own photoblog!

A very interesting dream indeed.

I love that photo. I have never been to Niagara Falls, but I plan to visit one day. :*)

Lana Gramlich said...

Mon@rch; It looks like there's a free-flying aviary on the Canadian side now, too. Down at the power plants you can often see hundreds of gulls of varying types at a time.

Miladysa; Thank you, again. This is my photoblog...and my art blog & my dream blog & my bird blog, etc. :)

DH; I'm sure you'll have a great time. :)

Your dreams are so vivid.
Having only one like you've just described would compel me to write a book.
Ah well. St. Paul says dreams have deceived many.

Had a dream, years ago of being pursued by l940's style T-Men, phantoms, replete in fedoras and baggy suits, driving out-of-date Chrysler Imperials. They had found me trying to access the U.S.A at a border point-- and they chase me for like about thirty years.
I wrote and wrote and rewrote the book on the dream.
Realized years later, it had something to do with 911, and me marrying into a tribe not my own, even though I wrote the book in l973.
I could not, for the life of me really identify The Hat People, the title of my novel.
Your alsmot-speech from the pulpit is intriguing!

Your dreams are so detailed! I like to see what you've been dreaming about. I have a hard time remembering mine.
Thunderstorms are cool, glad it wasn't dangerous though...I would love a rumble of thunder today!

Your dreams are stories! You need to follow one through like Alice through the looking glass!

The picture is so lovely!

Lana Gramlich said...

Ivan; Sometimes I convert my dreams into poems or paintings, but I don't have the stamina for stories or books. Has "The Hat People" been published? I'd love to check it out!

Chris; Actually I used to remember far more of my dreams, but I haven't been as disciplined about it as I used to be. I love storms, so long as they're not devastating! <:\

Ello; Thanks. Mushrooms might help. *LOL* said...

I had the good luck to to have google list all my books, first paragraph, should anybody have time to google my name.
Only one chapter of The Hat Peope was oficially published, in a commerical magazine.
The entire book was finally put out (by hook or by crook) in l996.

I have reprinted the novel, right
on top of my blog,

Just click onto THE HAT PEOPLE.

Stamina. Yeah. A full-length novel takes a lot out of you.

Happy Post Valentine's Day.

Ivan; I'll definitely have a look at "The Hat People." I may even be able to have our library order it for our collection. :)
The last novel I was working on (in the late '80s,) was incredibly theraputic, which made it extra draining. *LOL* I don't have that time, need or inclination anymore. My kudos for your stamina, however!

Anonymous (as if you'll ever be back); Although I normally delete generic spam like yours, ironically we're considering getting our own domain name. Although you claim there's "no hidden cost," nothing is free & since you haven't posted your charges here, you've effectively "hidden" the cost, now haven't you? Still, I may pop over for a look at your site.
