This past Friday I participated in a "Meet the Artists" reception at the
Berkeley Gallery and Studio here in
Abita Springs. Our hostess was kind enough to introduce me to a photographer from Covington Magazine, so my picture may end up in an upcoming issue. I was pleased to overhear some positive comments about my artwork, to have met other, local artists & to get to know the gallery owner better.
Charles was also kind enough to meet me there (I went straight from work,) & I appreciate his support. Things started out somewhat quietly, but once the wine started flowing (from the table closest to my art--
bonus!) the party was
on...

In other news, another movie was filming at Rauch's the other day. I've heard it was a scene from a Disney movie.

It looks as if you had a pretty good turn out. Did you bring your own Scotch? (I voted again.)
Very nice looking reception and attractive work by the look of it!
Great to see yours up and framed; all the best with any subsequent contacts.
I love this posts.
Thank you for such a wonderful glimpse into your world Lana.
Looks like a nice show. Lots to see!
Marvin; Heck no...NO scotch for me, thanks. I'm a quick study! *L*
Julie; Yes, it was well put together, all around.
Miladysa; Glad to oblige. Thanks for stopping by my world, too!
Clare2e; It was interesting. Lots of cool people, certainly!
Love the pictures -- sounds like a great time! Hope you're having a good St. Patrick's Day!
Your photos are very nice. And thanks for visiting my birds blog.
I hope you get to visit my brookville blog and see me in a blonde wig.
Michelle; Yeah, the reception was pretty cool & back atcha!
Lincoln; I've seen you in the blonde wig, you sweet thing, you! ;)
Ooooh, what an awesome event! It looks and sounds like such a blast. I hope your picture gets published, too!
Charles looks a little lonely there!
Nice show and great photography. Another great MTM entry.
Terrie
Looks like a lot of fun for artists and spectators alike! Hope it gets you much attention and invitations to more shows.
Congratulations on your show. ‘Hope you sell.
Mo : )
You had some nice comments on your work, but they were well deserved. Every time I look at the dancer I love it more. If I weren't married to you I'd buy it.
Sid, neither Lana nor I are "lives of the party" types so we sort of clung together for courage.
I love the picture of Charles. Nice to see him outside of the avatar :)
Excellent! Looks great all 'round.
Here, the Detroit City Council just called for the Mayor to resign. That's *my* town (at least for now) . . . . .
Cool. Congratulations. :)
Woo hoo! Love it here in Detroit. The mayor busted for texting about his affair with the city manger, whilst paying millions from taxes to various people helping him cover up for his wife who had a stripper killed, a stripper from a covered up new year's freak-party who was all over the mayor himself.
Craziness! I love it!
Congratulations on any success that come of your photography work! I'm certain it will breed more success in future endeavors!
The art show looks wonderful!!! Beautiful house and ambience!
(on a side note, just read your story and voted. Totally didn't expect the ending, OMG!!) :-)
Lisa; If it does (& I approve,) I'll post it here. ;)
Sidney; Agreed...He needs a drink, at least! *L*
Terrie; Thank you! I'll be popping by your blog as soon as I can (been swamped lately.)
Shauna; I'm fortunate that our whole area is pretty "artsy-fartsy." Evidently even moreso than New Orleans (where I couldn't even get the time of day.)
Mo; Thank you! Back atcha on the sales, of course. :)
Charles; You're too sweet, as always. Y'know, we can keep that painting if you like it that much.
Billy; I thought y'all might appreciate it. He's typically not one for photos, so I was particularly blessed that he sat for me!
Erik; I heard about your mayor...What a tool he sounds like! Same old, same old, it seems.
Kate; Thank you. :)
Eric; Thanks for the well wishes. Your mayor sounds sadly typical of most politicians these days, unfortunately. I wish I could tell him to shut the hell up, he sounds like such an idiot!
Christine; Thanks for the comment & the vote. Not one of my shining moments, that! I'll keep y'all posted on the prize (if I did, indeed, win.)
I enjoy this segment that you do.-I am always interested by small towns and the people who live there.-I vacation at places like that.
Larry; Glad you're enjoying "My Town Mondays." This would be a nice place to visit (you could always pop across the lake to New Orleans if you needed a break from the small-town atmosphere. :)
Glad to hear the reception went well and thanks for carrying on MTM in my absence.
Congrats on your photo making the mag!
Travis; Anytime. I think you've created a monster. :)
NW; I don't know that it's made the magazine yet, but it was taken by one of their staff. We shall see...
