Carolina Wrens

Our local pair of Carolina wrens, which I love very much. They're hysterically cheeky & inquisitive. I avoid it as much as I can lately, but today I had to go into our shed. While there I got a picture of their nest, in the folds of our tent. None of the shots came out great, but I didn't have much time (every second mama wren's away the eggs are cooling off);
I'm looking forward to seeing the chicks when they hatch.
No camping 'til Autumn, at any rate!

Y'all are so fortunate in your bird life. Very cool!

Steve; I remember when I first started putting out seed...I complained once to Charles that I was going to quit because NO birds were coming. The next day, it began...Since then, it's been a joy. A little seed goes a long way (so long as you aren't inundated by rat bastards, but I digress.)

What adorable pictures! I'm afraid of birds after a very traumatic incident with a parakeet named Rudy (wicked little thing who wore bows on his teeny-tiny head). But I love your pictures!

Sorry about the bird trauma. I've known others in similar boats. Thanks for the kind words. :)

And each with their own stump!

You've got a nice wren family going on there.-I don't usually get good photos of Carolina Wrens.-Those photos are good-they're in focus and show the whole bird.-They must be fun to watch@

What cute little eggs.

Travis; *LOL*

Larry; They are. They pick through our fake plants on the deck, they hop right up on Charles' chair out there for a better view of our den, inside. One day one even hopped up there while Charles was IN the chair. They're so small & so gutsy.

Charles; Can you imagine the young'ns? Teensy tiny!

Carolina wrens are amazingly cute. And yeah, chirpy ;)

Lana Gramlich said...

Erik; I know! For such tiny things they've sure got the pipes!

NW; You know it. ;)

Wrens are notorious for nesting just about anywhere. This time of year I must keep my basement door closed when I'm not working in my shop. Otherwise, I'm liable to end up with a wrens nest up in the floor joists.

Nice. The spring migration is JUST kicking into gear up here! :)

Lana Gramlich said...

Marvin; Yeah, I'd heard they were notorious that way. They did start off in a chair on our deck, after all. *LOL*

Dave; Enjoy. I already miss our winter visitors (who are largely long gone now.)

Wow! The eggs look as if they've been painted for Easter. Another batch of cool pictures.
