Macro shot of tiny white flowers in our yard.

A juvenile cardinal & juvenile eastern towhee (finally got a decent shot of the latter!)

Yellow flowers in our yard.

Early sunset, Aug. 22, 2008.

I'm still working on identifying the flowers. Any help/input would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what those little flowers are, but they are SO beautiful! And such a stunning sunset, too. I love how it's framed by the trees. :-)

Those little white ones are gorgeous. Makes me think of frozen dew.

Nice microshots!I wonder if the Lilliptians went to the local bar to do microshots?

I thought of you yesterday when we had ducks swimming in our backyard.

They're passing through headed back north, and a mated pair seem to have decided that our yard's a wetland. Of course, much rain as we've been getting, they're not far wrong.

They seem unperturbed by Butler...

Great shots as always!

More great pictures! Have you thought about selling themed sets of blank greeting cards? I know I'd buy a set of your sunsets—I'm always on the lookout for cards that are both beautiful and suitable for sending as sympathy cards.

laughingwolf, lisa & travis (wolf icon); Thanks. :)

charles; They're so tiny I almost overlooked them, myself.

travis e; I like those, too. There are lots of those around here.

NW; Thanks for the tip, but the petals on ours are much rounder & not so pointy.

larry; *LOL!*

steve; Ducks seem to be very strange creatures, as far as I'm concerned. I love them, though. Very tasty. ;) Ducklings are the cutest things on Earth, I think.

shauna; I've had postcards of one of my sunsets available for years now, actually. See my profile box in the upper right hand corner for the link to Dream Graphics. Since the only person who's ever bought anything there so far is me, I've hesitated to pursue it any farther (thus the postcards & no greeting cards.) I can throw up greeting cards for you if you'd like, but I find Cafe Press kind of expensive to begin with. Let me know.

Not usually a big fan of yellow, this is the one that jumps out to me most. Wowza!

Hey honey,

Love these pictures, but no guesses on the flowers. The only flower names I know are ones that I can use for writing, mostly things like Love Lies Bleeding. That's got to be the best flower name ever!

Lana Gramlich said...

erik; I like that one, too. Great minds DO think alike! ;)

NW; It's often very difficult to ID plants, simply because of the vast variety of them.

michelle; Yes, that's a good one. Much more evocative, even, than the standard "bleeding heart."

Beautifully composed... Love the yellow flowers!

Your photos are so beautiful that I quit looking at the flowers in the back yard. Now I just come to your website because there's no watering required!

Lana Gramlich said...

michelle; Thank you. :)

vwriter; *LOL* We don't really "tend" our wildflowers, either, but they seem to do well enough (better than anything I plant, which all just seems to die!) I appreciate the kind comment.
