A photo of part of our road (taken between Hurricane Gustav & the subsequent flood); I was intrigued by the colors, textures, shapes & the tiny, green leaf sticking out from all of the apparent lifelessness. (Thanks to Mark for reminding me to post this.)
Thanks for your comment on my review of "Writing the Artist Statement". Your paintings are beautiful, and this photo really pulls on me.
If you are interested, I have also written a review for the book, "How to Survive and Prosper as an Artist," which is the one I would really recommend most out of all of the books I've read so far about being an artist.
evenspor; Glad you like my work. :) I've read "How to Survive & Prosper as an Artist," myself (& I agree with what you've said about it here--good book.) Thanks for the heads up, though!
The Japanese have it all right; rock gardens are the most serene peaceful things. And this one was molded by a bigger force than a human hand. Beautiful.

Definitely interesting textures and combination of colors.
Odd how a tiny part can say so much about the whole set of events.
I like neutrals as a colour scheme.
What a beautiful mosaic.
I love the textures and contrasts.
Thanks, all. :)
My kind of photo, Lana! I love the colors and textures of rocks and pebbles, too! As you may have noticed....
We've been up to our necks in mud, here in Maine, after all the rain!
ingredients for a good zen garden... wooden box with a removable glass top :)
Nice composition. The green leaf is perfectly balanced by the small reddish stone.
It does have beauty to it but it reminds me of being a id in shorts when I would sometimes fall on rocks like that with bare knees.
Ver' nice...
I appreciate the kind comments.
lynda; My sympathies, particularly after the great, post-Gustav flood we recently survived. <:\
larry; I remember those times all too well, myself. *wince*

Beautiful, Lana, and I can see what kindred spirits we are. Don't you love nature!!!
Hugs, JJ

jj; Nature is the core of my soul. :)
avery; Er...actually this one was molded by human hands...we live on a stone road. *L* I agree about the Japanese/rock gardens, however!
