This and your "Eye Candy" one are very catchy pieces. I really see you taking a fun new approach with these. Love the stars in the lashes.

My kind of representation.

...But I get so many asteroids in my eye.

Brilliant idea, like the surreal edge to it. All the best!

Cooooool.

I made the mistake of scrolling down tho. Note to self...never scroll without reading first! Yikes, spiders! LOL

Good Luck!vvI am sure you will do well with this. T

hose lashes are fantastic - must have taken you ages!

charles; Thank you, baby. Although I've been trying to get away from fantasy a bit, I'm still full of it & sometimes it demands expression!

ivan; Don't you hate when that happens? *LOL*

julie, travis & steve; Thank you! I'll find out how I do this coming weekend.

drowsey; Thanks. It's surprising, sometimes, the effect that even photos of spiders have on people. I've never seen people respond so strongly to anything else I've ever posted. Even the picture of the guts (that I'd mentioned,) would probably be a more welcome sight (for some,) than spiders. Yet, I love them!

miladysa; Thank you. Actually the lashes were among the quickest things to do!

I find Window of the Soul to be interesing and somewhat (don't take this the wrong way) creepy. As for the spiders below - I love them. There are thousands and thousands of webs sparkling with early morning dew in my fields as it's autumn and the "Charlottes" are hard at work.

lana, i'm sure you don't need luck, you have talent [and charles] :O lol

Best of luck this weekend!

TT; NP on "creepy." I got the same comment about my last eye-based painting, actually. *LOL* Glad you like the spider photos, too. They're typically very hard to get, so I was delighted to have some come out so well this time around.

laughingwolf & shauna; Thanks much. :)

Awesome -- good luck! 23 skidoo --

Album theme idea to go with The Dreaming Tree: My Life in the Bush of Ghosts . . .

Lana Gramlich said...

erik; Thanks. :) I've actually never heard of that album. I'll have to check it out when I get home from work...

Very cool...but what's this about you being an "amateur"?

i like this photo, although "eyes" sometimes scare me. :) very nice and great eye lashes.

wishing you luck!

drjay; I don't really qualify as a "professional" here & now. I'm certainly not making money via painting, unfortunately!

nw; Yes, I've found my recent eye paintings most disturbing to some people. It's all good, though. A "creeped out" reaction is better than none at all, y'know? ;) Thanks for the well wishes!

Hey lovely Lana,

This is fucking gorgeous! I really like this one a lot -- beautiful, alarming, surprising. Everything in one great picture. You'll do great in the contest!

Donnetta Lee said...

Wow. This is another one that I REALLY love. You are on a roll.

I'm sort of laughing at myself. When I took art lessons with Mama--years ago--we did a water scene at twilight. I thought I was so good. I put cat tails in the water. Then, on second look, I thought uh oh. Not too good after all. I titled it "Sperm Floating in the Sea of Life." If that tells you anything!! So much for my career as an artist! D

Lana Gramlich said...

michelle; I'm glad you like this one so much. Unfortunately it's not the one I entered in the contest, but I'm understanding local tastes better & this would NOT win, I'm sure. As such, it IS for sale, as most of them are. ;)

donnetta; Thank you much! OMG on your painting! I don't suppose you still have that "floating" around anywhere, eh? I'd love to see it! *L*

Lana: I got rid of almost everything when we first moved from Oklahoma to Florida. We had an estate auction and liquidated. Boy, talk about refreshing. After the sale, we had a glass of wine (hubby and I) and said, how does it feel to be free! Didn't last long as we started loading up on stuff all over again! But, I should have held on to some of those things--like my pitiful little paintings. Oh, well. D

Lana Gramlich said...

jj & roadgurl5; Thanks much. :)

donnetta; Ah...I see. I hear you on the refreshing-ness of unloading, too. Fortunately these days we can at least hold onto digital pictures of things, even if we do liquidate the things, themselves, y'know?

So beautiful, Lana ~ awesome work!

I LOVE this painting! Very creative I can see you doing a series of these! Keep us posted how the competition turns out...I bet you win!

Lana Gramlich said...

lisa; Thank you. :)

chris; The idea behind this is a pencil sketch I did years ago of a woman's face with all astronomical aspects (i.e.; her eyebrow was a comet, etc.) I've tried to go to the fair to see how I did, but it's been wayyyyyyy too busy, so I'll have to find out once I go to pick the works up. Will post the results, though!

Best wishes to you all the way from upstate New York!
Cool image.

Lana Gramlich said...

nancy; I've actually already posted the results here. *L* Thanks, though!

Lana, that is a mature concept! Such a wise idea. Like your painting very much. :))

Lana Gramlich said...

Thank you, punam. This idea's been in my head for a while now (actually, years ago I did something similar in graphite.)
