Lovely pictures. How come there wasn't any snow there then? By the way, 1) how are American robins different from European robins?, and 2) can you send some snow to Tokyo? It's raining cats and dogs here.
We need some snow! My folks back in Britain have had it, but none for us here in Japan.
Robins are cool to watch and listen to when they are in such large flocks. We have witch hazel factories in CT Those turtles sound like they're lacking courage.
Charles; I know I'm addicted. That's the first step in recovery, right? ;)
Angie; I'd always wanted to see witch hazel--this was my first sighting, so I was delighted. It's very strange looking stuff, yes!
Danny; There actually still WAS some snow by then, but I turned away from it, whenever I saw it. *L* It melted not long after our hike, though, so I can't send any your way. Sorry. <:( As for the robins, European robins are smaller, more colorful & belong to a different bird family.
Larry; I just linked up a video of the robins that I'd uploaded. It was lovely listening to them all singing. The flock in the video (& that picture,) was one of many in the area. We also had at least 100 in & around our yard the other day. As for the turtles, sure they're cowards. Look how far away they are in the picture! Chickens. *L*
Travis; Blissfully different, yes. ;)
JR; True. They are strange little flowers...if one can actually call them that. Thanks!
Erik; My sympathies on the laptop. I hadn't thought of the leaf-jets. Perhaps there's a fairy war going on. *L*
Christine; I like the snow better, too...now that it's gone! *L*
Steve; Like so many places, unfortunately. At least we have TNC working to preserve & restore some of our formerly glorious, local, longleaf pine savannas.
Naval Langa; Thanks for the kind comment. I'll make sure to pop over for a look at your works, as well. :)
Dr. Jay; That cartoon may have been my favorite of the Looney Tunes, actually. A total classic! What's so great about the great egret is that it's the largest of all the species (I'm pretty sure.) Not to mention that the breeding plumage is just spectacular.
Wonderful photos, Lana. Your witch hazel is blooming a little ahead of ours, but it is winter blooming -- even here. The ironwood leaves are so colorful. Great work!
The turtles are awesome! Reminds me of when we used to hike through the parks in Tennessee when I was very young. Wish I had a camera then.
Speaking of which, I just got a new Sony Cybershot. I had one last year, but after I let my youngest sister borrow it, it was stolen and I lost all 500+ pics, since my lazy butt didn't see fit to copy them to a hard drive.
Yes, I am backing up everything now...
But anyway, next year I might get a new camera. I really like the pictures you take. Any recommendations as to a good brand of camera? Or lenses? Or anything? You can leave it as a comment on my blog on any post. I get email notification for all comments, no matter how far back in my archives they are.

You're such a photo fiend, sweetums.
Great pics. :D And I'd always sort of wondered what witch hazel looked like. [squint] Weird stuff.

Sure looks different than the snow day!
That first photo looks like young mutant spiders ready to attack. Nice close-up shot, I hope they didn't get you.
Third try leavin' a comment without my laptop crashing ;->
I was gonna say, no funny after JR, the second shot (and all are great) reminds me of fighter jets wooshing toward the viewer!
Witch hazel is my favorite but I think I like your snow better....HAAAA HAAAA HA!

Very colourful series.
I like the first pic and iron wood leaves.
Tabib; Thank you. :)
Beautiful! And a relief, eh?? ;-)
So lovely. Louisiana's so beautiful; shame the land's been so abused...
Nice pics! Our backyard is wooded and full of those ironwoods. I love how their smooth bark has those interesting twists.
Michelle; A TOTAL relief, yes!
Steve; Like so many places, unfortunately. At least we have TNC working to preserve & restore some of our formerly glorious, local, longleaf pine savannas.
Holly; Thank you. Yes, they're beautiful & interesting trees!
I have come here from Mr. Travis Ervin's blog. I have read some of your posts. I would revisit for reading more literature from you.
If you like short stories and paintings, then a short visit to my blogs wold be an entertaining one.
Naval Langa
Witch Hazel...reminds me of that old Bugs Bunny cartoon with a witch called...Hazel...hairpins flying in her wake....
And just what's so great about a white egret, anyway?
Naval Langa; Thanks for the kind comment. I'll make sure to pop over for a look at your works, as well. :)

the burst of yellow is very cheery and fall like. i like that one.
I always feel rejuvenated when I look at your photos.
Valerie; I liked that one, too. It's not often we get colorful, Autumn trees down here, so this one was a special treat. :)
Chris; Thanks! Sounds like you need to get out hiking more. ;)
Nice pictures as always. Thanks for posting them.
Shauna; Anytime! Glad you enjoyed. :)

Marvin; Thank you kindly! I'd never seen witch hazel before outside of a book, so it was a real treat for me. :)
Fantastic shots, Lana!
Anne Vis; Thank you kindly!
Fantastic photos!
Nazar; Thank you kindly. :)
