Hi Lana- I've been waiting for this post after reading today that New Orleans got snow. And snow it did! Wow. Everything is quite beautiful. Enjoy it while it lasts.

LOL............it seems to be the year for it. Obviously not confined to the UK. I love seeing your phtographs of your bird table...

WOW! So beautiful. I hope you enjoyed its fleeting beauty.

Poor little birds in the snow. I guess they are hearty, though! We got some spitting snow day before yesterday. Next week we are expecting ICE!! Oh, no! D

Yikes, you woke up to snow! But you saw a robin, a blue jay, and a cardinal, and the stunning stretch of wooded road with snow-frosted trees. Not bad for one morning's worth of beauty!

Lana, wow. We had a very small amount of snow flurries(blink and don't squint and you'd have missed them)the other morning, but it didn't stick. I'm jealous...just recently, I've started to miss Winter.

WTF???????

At least it was starting to melt seriously by early afternoon. I enjoyed walking in the snow this morning, though.

And just when you thought you were safe from the evil white stuff -- surprise! (That's not me you hear snickering. Honest.)

It not horror, but beautiful captured of snow.

When I heard on the news last night about snow in New Orleans, I immediately thought of you! Didn't know how close you were to the city...now I see, close enough! Welcome to my world! (Although it looks like you've gotten plenty more than we did during our first snow of the season!)

oops, btw, excellent pics!

Up here in Canada it's almost an everyday event.
And today, it has to "moon."; full moon.

I think I'm going to kill myself. ;)

Snow. In New Orleans area. On December 11. Can the Apocalypse be far behind???

At least you got some good pix. I snapped a few with my phone camera, but resolution's poor and can't see much.

Wow, Lana, you had more snow this morning than we did in NE Ohio.

For those who don't understand my horror; I moved here from the snow belt in Canada, hoping never to EVER see snow again. This is twice since I've been here now, in a scant 5 years!

Tom; We ended up with about 3" here. It only finally finished melting the next day!

Chrissy; The bird table was originally a bird bath, but considering the nearby creek & whatnot, no birds ever used it as such. If anything, they preferred to drink & bathe in puddles in the lawn, so I figured I'd put it to better use. When I discovered raccoons pilfering the seed, I knotted the chain, raising it out of their reach.

Tim; I'll put it this way--I was glad it was fleeting! *L*

Donnetta; Hope you avoid the ice. Although it can be beautiful, it's so dangerous & damaging!

Lynda; I appreciate the sentiment, but this isn't why I moved to the subtropics! *L*

Scott; That makes one of us. I don't miss Winter. At all. ;)

Travis; That's what I said! Well...Inside, at least. (BTW, that's Charles laughing at me in the background of that video.)

Charles; You enjoyed walking in it??? Blasphemy!

Marvin; Yeah, yeah. I know I had it coming! <:\

Tabib; But I left Canada to get away from this evil, white stuff! (Partly, anyway.)

Holly; It actually snowed more where we live than in New Orleans. Hooray. :( At least it's all gone now! :)

Ivan; Fret not, I remember many epic storms from my years close to Lake Erie. I survived "Bald Eagle," the great 5 flaker of '02. :(

Elora; I thought it was cruelly semi-ironic that I'd just recently purchased a good, digital SLR.

debra & JJ; At least it's gone now. The horror has ended. *L*

Birds are always nice to watch during the snow as you look out the window while sipping a hot beverage.

Lana Gramlich said...

Larry; Yes. Especially if the sn*w will be melting by the next day. ;)

WOW! I'm LAUGHING so hard right now! You're brain won't explode! I think secretly you sort of like it.....who wouldn't??? Just embrace the beauty...don't fight it.

Christine; BLASPHEMY, I say! ;) *L*

Don't worry - We have over 3 feet here... LOL! We're not coming down to get you.....

Steve Malley said...

And here it's summer. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to put on some shorts and open a cold beer.

Ahhhhh........ yeah, that's the stuff.

:p

Lana Gramlich said...

Michelle; I remember 3 feet (& more!) My sympathies!

Steve; It's back up into the 70s today & going to almost 80 on Thursday, so I'll be having a beer on our deck, too. ;)

okay i'm laughing at you. we don't have snow yet. what is it doing snowing in La anyway. Make sure you keep it over there. :)

Lana Gramlich said...

Valerie; We kept it for a day & a half. That was more than enough for my liking, thank you! *L*

i'm sure it's gone by now, lana :O lol

we are to get 6" of that crap today

I feel the same way about snow. Luckily, being this close to the ocean negates most of the white stuff around here (unless fog counts).

Barbara Martin said...

Lana, it's not evil white stuff. It's pristine. Besides, I have more of it up here, and I don't mind the stuff. Just the nerdy drivers who haven't clued in they need twice the stopping the distance. And I don't mind the cold. The worst I've been in was one winter in Alberta where the temperature didn't go above -28F for 6 weeks, and most nights were -42F with humidity in February. Talk about driving on square tires.

Lana Gramlich said...

laughingwolf; Yes, all gone (fortunately!) My sympathies on your 6". Ick!

Avery; Fog doesn't count. Fog is cool! :)

Barbara; I've had mild frostbite (because of a lake effect snowstorm, actually,) which has affected my tolerance of cold forever. I used to like sn*w. Now we are enemies.

What beauty there is in the frigid stuff...

Love the shots of the birds. Cardinals are supposed to be good luck.
