My Town Monday; Recent Photos

When I was flooded in the other day, there wasn't very much to do, so I wandered around my yard & neighborhood (where I could,) with my camera.

This lovely blue-eyed grass flower was growing along a ditch on the main road.

Macro of a thistle bud. This must be a different species from what we have up north, as these buds are the size of my fist (as opposed to a grape.)

A lovely little Carolina bristlemallow flower growing up between the planks of our deck stairs.

This cardinal was peeking at me through the window in our back door.

After the rains were finished & the sun came out, our new neighbors had a fire. The dappled sunlight created crepuscular rays (as mentioned yesterday,) in the smoke.

My Town Monday is the brainchild of Travis Erwin.

Great pictures as always. And I love the painting every bit as much in person as I did online. Many thanks. By the way I'm adding this post to the MTM group when I post here in a bit.

Lana, lovely photos. We have rain and everything else today. Spring flowers are coming up, which makes sense since snow is predicted.

What a great shot of the cardinal :) such beautiful little creatures. What a lovely little flower growing on the vine on your deck.

I love your macro shots. They really show the small beauty around us that we so often fail to notice.

Beautiful photos, Lana!!!

That thistle is different from up north. It looks more elegant.

Sorry to hear about the flooding.

Hugs, JJ

That cardinal looks naughty. You sure you were clothed?
hehehe :-)

The last photo is breathtaking. Truly, truly awe inspiring.

*AND* you can play John Denver's songs on the guitar? Charles better be careful, because I want to steal you away...

Just saw your post below about headed over now to congratulate him!

lovely pictures - that bird would be what we call a Chaffinch over here - least it very much looks like one.

Travis E.; Thanks for the kind comment & for adding me to MTM. You're certainly welcome for the painting. I'm glad you like it. :)

debra; Thanks. Go figure on the flowers v. snow!

Scott; It did, at least for a while. We allegedly have 100% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow & 70% chance into the night. I hope it doesn't rain lots 'n lots!

JafaBrit; Thank you kindly!

Charles; Nothing like stopping to smell the, well, if you HAVE a sense of know what I mean! ;)

JJ; The flooding was more an annoyance than any trouble, really. Thanks, though!

Chris E.; silly thing! Glad you like the last photo, in particular. The camera doesn't QUITE accurately show how it appeared, of course. It was really beautiful in person. If you tell Charles I can play John Denver on guitar, he might actually give me to you. *LOL*

ARCHAVIST; Thanks. Your chaffinches have many more colors than our cardinals, actually (& they belong to different bird families, it seems.)

Barrie, Skippy, pattinase, Barbara & Terrie; Thanks!
