The Shoulder Verdict (Updated)

Had my appointment with the orthopedic specialist this morning. He said that my recent X-ray & MRI indicated a lot of inflammation & some calcification in my problem (left) shoulder. As a result, I got a cortizone shot & a printout of exercises for my rotator cuff muscles. Traditional swimming's still out for now, but I've already noticed a difference while driving; I could actually turn my steering wheel with that arm! It's the simple things in life that bring happiness. (Update, 9/1/09; My shoulder's back to throbbing, so it cost me almost $800 out of pocket for a month & a half of relief--that works out to $17.78 per day...Brutal.)
Here's some more recent bird photos...

Male red-bellied woodpecker trying to teach a cardinal fledgling that he does NOT share. Note the nonplussed attitude of the cardinal.

Red headed woodpecker (right) and fledgling (left.) Also a female cardinal on the ground between them.

Dear Lana, I pray your shoulder heals quickly. My daughter is going through the same thing and has been doing exercises.

What beautiful bird photos and what a beautiful soul you are!!! You have had a hard journey in life but you have grown strong and inspiring.

Sorry I have been MIA. I have just submitted my second project and have time for surfing now.

God's blessings and may you have all the dreams you have for life come true.

Hugs, JJ

I love your pics and your pluck, Lana!

My neck is spasming, so I can relate...It makes me appreciate the little things indeed!
So I'm caring for myself and celebrating my usual (and mostly) healthy body.

You are a gem, Lana

LOL, I don't like rats much but I reckon you should post it! I love the cardinals, I don't think we have anything like that.
I so wish you get to feel better, I will have a minute and think healing thoughts *rolls eyes* like it is gonna do any good..lets hope your doc is a better "healer" than me.. hugs XX

Lana,

You have changed your avatar.

Oh-oh.

Back in the days when I had more freelance work than I could handle, I would attribute some of my writings to my wife, whose picture was placed at the top of the column, with the byline of Karen Smith.
Well, she got to change her avatar too, to make her look more schoolmarmy.
Some readers no liked.
Change it back, they said.
"The glasses."

Peace and love.

Happy to hear that the shoulder is better but I hope they're able to make it right soon. Love those cantankerous woodpeckers.

Seems to be an epidemic of shoulder issues going on. I just got the shot, too.

And, glad I did.

Dang...very weird. Hearing about it all over work, now on the internet, too.

Strange.

Love your photos, tho. Sorry for musing!

Lovely bird photos, as usual. Glad you can get more done with that shoulder too. Hope you get back to swimming soon (I'm a swimmer too).

Good news about your shoulder improvement. Hoping recovery continues.

Love the shot of the fussy woodpecker.

I'm hoping you recover quickly, Lana.

The birds photos were lovely, and I especially liked the one with the woodpecker telling the poor cardinal off. (Well it looked like that.)
