Streamlining is Relative

I've been busy with so many things lately I don't know which way is up. In an attempt to streamline some online things, I set up a website via webs.com. Unfortunately, unless I want to pay a fairly goodly amount, I don't get much storage space, which I must subsequently use for images, rather than blogging. One of these days I'm just going to have to bite the bullet & pay for a professional site. At least the new site will probably make a good replacement for my art & photo blogs. Feel free to pop over for a visit. You can browse, become a member of the site, leave me a message in the guestbook, etc. Please let me know if anything's not working.

Now if only I could streamline the rest of my life...

I really like the new site, Lana. I like the organization of it. I may look into it for my pulpwriter.com website so I can redesign it. Good job! Love the gallery!

Good luck with your new site Lana. Websites are almost a thing of the past. It is mostly because there is little opportunity for interaction built in and that kind of enthusiasm is lacking in all web sites.

If you want storage space you could use the free Photobucket.com or Flickr.com. Depending on how well you categorize or tag things people want to see depends on how many and what kind of comments you get on those but those are free. If you are into art and photography I would probably say go for Flickr.

I would also not spend too much money on any website. If you need one and think you gotta have it, then I would get one for around $5.00 a month that has some touch or click templates. Where in two or three clicks you have a website that looks as good as those made by some of the finest designers in the country.

I used to build websites for companies and even whole cities and made money doing it but they are like newspapers, going out of business. And I don't touch them nowadays. I say that, not to discourage you, and prefer you do it anyway so the "learning" process continues to mean something.

I also say that to encourage you to have a look at my Brookville site. I have spent some major time (3 - 5 days) working on it to see what it takes to make it seem like a daily newspaper and a replacement for a website.

If I can get it to work out I may be onto something. Right now I am taking advantage of the things one can find online and am using them online in ways that older websites cannot use and neither can newspapers. See what you think ►

Wow! Your other site looks awesome. Well, as always the case nothing is for free these days...even water LOL. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. My laptop got busted so i had to visit a local tech. Which means another money off my pocket. Sigh.

That's a nice way to be able to go in and check out your paintings.

There seem to be lots of loose ends in tin the artists life, Lana.

Never "done" in this life. Revel in it and give yourself permission to be "in play."

Aloha, Friend!

For me its simplify, but I suspect the concept is the same as yours. Perhaps its why nature and especially wilderness is so attractive to some.

I visited your new "sunshine" site and liked it. Then I began to wonder if you knew about shutterchance or not. Check it out http://www.shutterchance.com/
They provide a site plus Unlimited storage (upload as many photos as you want never worry about quotas or limits). I heard about it from a friend of a friend who loves it there and who says it's the best photoblog community online.
