Getting Out

We went to Fontainebleau State Park again the other day (regardless of the poor weather,) before I ended up sitting at the computer dishevelled, typing "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy" repeatedly. Out on the pier and right along the lakefront, the wind whipped fiercely. The winds make the pier railing vibrate, creating a humming noise. If you listen to my brief video, you can hear the railing "sing";

Great egret.

Spanish moss in a live oak tree.

The nearly full moon.

Loggerhead shrike.

A cypress tree in the pond.

A couple of people flying a kite along the lakefront.

Dead tree at sunset.

Red-headed woodpecker.

Striking images of our feathered friends and the cypress tree. Did you make the video? Very musical indeed.

Great images.

That music is sometimes very very eerie. This wasn't quite as great because the wind was steady. When it shifts and changes then you get a most strange music indeed from the railings.

David; Thanks & yes. I recorded the little vid.

The villager & V: Thank you. :)

Charles; If it hadn't have been so cold, I would have tried getting a few seconds when the wind was really gusting & the railing was screaming.

letspaintnature; Thanks! I wish the camera could accurately catch the enormity of that dead tree. It's HUGE.

Erik; Thanks. Unfortunately it's still to crappy weather-wise for any beanstalks to even grow, but if they were, I'd be right up there, I'm sure!

Wind down by the sea is always exciting. I especially like the photo of the tree with the moss on it.

Nice pics. I get far too much wind exposure as well and March is our windiest month.

All beautiful photos Lana. I am partial to the Loggerhead Shrike myself but the Cypress tree in the pond and the singing rail are fabulous!

You do take the best pictures. The one of the moon calls to me, but the moon always does (insert howling, here). I also love the spanish moss.

Louisiana's cypress knees are so much more impressive than the ones we have up here!
