The "Hair"mitage & Other Things (Updated)

For those unfamiliar with my husband & I, we both have long hair, but you'd almost think we had 2 dogs. The hairballs we leave throughout our home are incessant & almost impossible to stay on top of. Every 4 uses of the vaccuum, I have to clean out the roller (a quite physical & time-consuming process.) Here's a shot from the latest clean out;
Welcome to the "hair"mitage.

We had a power outage earlier this month, during which I played around with some colored candle holders, my crystal ball & my camera. Here's one of those results;

In other news, I've started a page on deviantART, where my images can be ordered as prints of various kinds, cards, mousepads, etc. Unfortunately deviantART keeps 90% of the total price. Many of these options are available directly through me, of course, and often at lower prices (with more profit going to me,) so e-mail me if you see anything you like either here or on my website. (Update, Apr. 20, 2010; I deactivated my deviantART page, as I got some very nasty malware from the site. Beware deviantART!)

I'll be attending the "Femme Fest" art exhibit opening on Mar. 13th. More details are here.
(Update; Here's a group shot of the artists at Femme Fest.)

We have 3 dogs and between the mud and the dog hair.....
Do you put the hair out for the birds to use as nesting material?
And now off to deviantArt.

I shed like a mangy wolverine myself.

I've had to do that too, tearing hair out of the vacuum cleaner. Awful, dirty, sweaty job. :P

deviantART keeps 90% of the total price

Wait, what?? Ninety percent?! And people put up with this... why? O_O That's seriously outrageous. How do they possibly justify that?

Now that's a lot of hair!

Hey! Just thought I'd tell you that I went to Google images of puppies on your advice and found the LOLdogs. Yup...the goggies have their own site to compete with the LOLcats.

debra; Yes, I have a bag where I save hair, dryer lint, etc. for the birds. But of course! ;)

Travis Erwin; *LOL* You're in good company, then. ;)

Angie; I guess they justify it because it's their site & if people will agree to it, who are they to argue? I signed up mostly for more exposure & because I'm still unwilling to deal with figuring out how to integrate PayPal on my site...but I really need to do that.

Travis; That doesn't count the hairballs we gather & pick up manually & throw away, either & don't even get me started on the shower drains. It's crazy.
All puppies are good. Dare I say, possibly even better than CAKE?

That's a job, for sure. I have a toy poodle who doesn't shed. (Thank goodness) And I have a white cat who sheds all over the place. A mess to try and keep up cleaning after her. Hubby doesn't shed much but then, he's getting a bald spot. I don't shed much either. But, oh, that cat! D

I haven't seen so much hair in a long time. My barber doesn't get that much off of me. LOL.

My daughter's black cat sheds a lot and I try to comb his hair out at least once a day.

I have one dog and have about the same amount of hair collection. A daily routine for us to pick up hairballs off the floor. It is a great idea for the birds nest.

Can't wait to hear your take, see your pics, from FemFest.

That's cool, Lana -- hope the Fest went well and good luck! I *will* be purchasing some of your work, hopefully directly, within the next month or two. The Pine Sketch reminds me of a traditional Japanese print -- very lovely.

@ Love the blonde :)

I signed up mostly for more exposure - Lana
AGree !!
90% is too high and not reasonable. If you have a time, check REDBUBBLE - is much better.
But still better if you add PayPal on here,i guess you still can make a sale in your own site. As for me,i'm still work out on it,need to read more about it. :)

When I saw the hair and the vacuum my mind went straight to the flowbee. It sucks as it cuts!

Lana Gramlich said...

Donnetta & Abraham; I bet we could give those cats a run for its money...

eileeninmd; We don't pick it up daily. It's just too much effort to try to stay THAT on top of it. <:\

Cloudia; My bad...I didn't even post those pix. I'll have to get to it for my next post!

Erik Donald France; Femme Fest was a good time. I got to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. Keep me posted on the purchase. I don't know that I could do much with the pine sketch for you--its very small & now glued into a collection of my sketches. Keep me posted, regardless.

fazrul; Yeah, I'm with you on PayPal. They sure don't make it very easy to figure out their fees. I'll pop over to REDBUBBLE. deviantART (like so many art sites,) is just full of artists & not buyers.

FreakSmack; *LOL* I only wish all of this hair fell during haircuts, but alas...this is just everyday losses. I remember the flowbee, though!

Wow! Lots of hair.Birds are supposed to like that stuff for nest building. You should put it out in your yard-or start your own Barbie doll factory.

Lana Gramlich said...

Larry; I do usually put it out for the birds, actually. I also put the dryer lint out (under the deck, where it's covered from the rain.) Charles recently got a haircut & I'm considering one myself. Perhaps I can donate to Locks of Love again...
