More Buntings (& Others)

Still housebound (but gradually feeling better,) I've been keeping busy taking pictures out the back door of the house.

One of the last three chipping sparrows. We've had a couple of white-throated sparrows, too (but they're notoriously difficult to photograph here.) I think it's safe to say now that the goldfinches are gone, headed back to Northern breeding climes. (10 days later, I was proven wrong on the goldfinches.)

This Carolina wren was singing up a storm right near the back door. It was around this time 2 years ago that we found the first of 2 clutches of eggs out in our shed.

There have been no obvious cardinal deaths since the other day, so it seems that one we found was an unfortunate fluke.

More indigo buntings have been showing up in the past day or so.

The annual "rough-looking raccoon rodeo" continues out back every afternoon around 2pm. (My video's about a minute long.)

That's a nice lot of birds to be able to see in your backyard. I love the blue of the Indigo Buntings. Hope you are soon feeling better!

You are amazing sick or well, but we wish you well, dear.

Sorry I haven't been visiting as often as I'd like, but I've been

I'm glad to hear the goldfinches are heading north - I've missed them.

Sorry you're sick, but isn't it great you can see so much nature right outside your backdoor?

Hi Lana,
Popping over to wish you a happy spring!
Wow--that raccoon. I have a similar story which happened last year which involves me, my kids, a cute raccoon, and a bunch of rabies shots.
Be careful because raccoons are one of the heaviest carriers of rabies, and they are not supposed to be awake during the day (something is wrong with that raccoon, and it could be rabies.)
Please google to get more info.

Bird pics are beautiful as always!!
:-)

Lana, these are lovely, lovely, lovely.
(Now, I must struggle out and re-fill my bird feeder.)
It's not right that you both should be sick at the same time.Charles is supposed to be able to look after you with soothing drinks, etc.

mick; Thanks! Yes, we love the plethora of birds that come through. They eat a fortune in seed, but it's worth it. ;)

eileeninmd; Thanks. We enjoy the buntings, too. They'll soon continue on their journey North.

Cloudia, kyungmee, Nicole, oyz & Bakkanekko; Thanks!

Charles; Yes, but you have better hair. ;)

Wren; Yes, we're fortunate for the local wildlife, particularly when we're under the weather! The goldfinches should arrive up there very well fed. ;)

Martha Z; Thanks for coming by. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

celticmusicfan; Anytime. ;)

Larry; There's more where that came from, too. ;)

Steve Malley; I'm glad I'm able to fill in your avian gaps.

Erik; Thanks. :)

Chris Eldin; Yes, I know very well about raccoons & rabies. We always get a daytimer for a while this time of year. Typically it's a mother who's not faring well against all of the nighttime competition. Regardless, I stay inside when it's around.

Bernita; Glad you enjoyed our birds. As for being sick at the same time, c'est la vie. We did our best caring for one another, as always.

NatureFootstep; Glad you enjoyed your visit. :)

Travis; Thank you!
