Random Shots (Updated)

I'm working on a painting of a crowned crane. In the meantime, here are a variety of shots from various local nature centers...

(Update, Dec. 3, 2010; This photo won 3rd Place in
Slidell Art League's "Xmas in the Depot" show.)

These are beautiful, Lana. I love the contemplative quality of your photos. Looking forward to seeing the painting.

I remember those dragonflies with their wings tilted forward like that.

Lana,

As always, great pics! Thanks for sharing.

debra; Thank you kindly. :)

Charles; Yes...strange how they were perched all over the tips of those branches, too. Probably some mating ritual.

Scott; Thanks for stopping by & taking time to comment!

I like that first one. Sort of gives one a bit a hesitation before stepping inside.

Magical trees at the top and I love the water bird in that silver water. Evening shot?

There is something wild and beautiful about the blue flags. Neat pic.

G, Urgent health care in Florida & Best Pure Skincare; Thank you!

Chrissy; No, the pied-billed grebe was actually closer to midday, but it was a kind of cloudy/hazy one.

troutbirder; Thanks. I love when they're all out in bloom here. We're past that point now, unfortunately, but it was nice while it lasted!

I'm fond of those reflection shots that show symmetry.

Beautiful nature shots, Lana. I especially like the dragonflies.

Travis C., Bernita & Marvin; Thanks. :)

Erik; More or less. It's part of the Bayou that runs through Northlake Nature Center. Thanks for the kind comment.

Lisa; Thanks. :) The weekend's "so far so good!" It was strange--so many of the dragonflies were perched on the tips of branches like that. I'd love to know what that's about...

letspaintnature; Thank you, hon. When it comes to nature, everything IS pretty, I think.

JR; Thanks. Me, too. I liked that the bird & some of the shadows in the water added a bit of asymmetry, as well.

Lana, you have some wonderful nature centers there. I enjoyed all these photos. The wildflowers are pretty and great shots of the birds and the dragonfly is cool.

The grebe is a perfect composition and colouring. Love it!

V; Thanks. Around here you have to be careful of such things--snakes & what have you...

Phil; Thank you kindly. It's one of my personal faves, too. :)
