Art News (Updated)

This morning I set up my art and photo display at the Causeway library. It'll be on through August.

This afternoon, a friend & I spoke with a local gallery owner about a potential future show for Abita Artists (the group I founded in 2008 and still run.) He was amenable to the idea--we'll have 3 weeks in Oct., details TBA.

I rec'd some new photo prints in today's mail, so I'm framing them all up, getting ready for the Arts Evening "Best of Show" competition and my impending "Artist of the Month" show at Mandeville City Hall in Sept.

The winners of the Julia Margaret Cameron award were finally announced the other day. I wasn't among them, but I'm happy to have made the finals, nonetheless!
(Update, Aug. 9, 2010; I was notified by the contest administrators that they will publish my photo in "The Julia Margaret Cameron Award 2010" book if I permit them to, which I did.)

I'm happy to report that the library acquisitions department liked my photo book so much that they've ordered 4 more copies for the system.

Unfortunately I haven't been painting much lately, but the drive is growing again...

Cograts on everything. Must feel a little strange to have your employer pick up more copies of your book.

Super photo Lana. "How did you do that?" I would love to see a larger version of it. I hope the temperatures subside a little soon.

So glad to hear the creative juices are starting to flow again.

Roland, Punam; Thanks and back atcha. :)

Charles; I do, too.

G; Thanks. Actually I'm delighted the library people liked my book enough to order more copies. I wasn't really expecting that!

troutbirder & Larry; Thank you. :)

Phil; Thanks. I think there's a larger version on my website (there's a link to it at the top of this blog.) As to how I did it--I was just in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately temps won't really subside 'til Oct. now. Totally looking forward to then!

Travis E.; Yes. Like most creative types, I just need a break from time to time.

Congrats, Lana. You have such an eye for the delicate beauty of nature. This is a stunning example!

You should do a photo book of your area - that is if you haven't already! I have been terrible for missing things... o..O

bernie; Thank you kindly. The way I see it, I work part-time at the library, but I work full-time for my visual arts biz. Planning a vacation for May of 2010, which will be sorely needed, for sure! *L*

V; Thanks much, hon. I have a calendar of all kinds of art info that I double check almost daily (& that I cross-reference with my personal journal, so I don't miss anything!) I wouldn't make it w/o so many reminders. <:\ Good luck w/your library display!

Michelle (artscapes); Thanks hon. The book the library ordered is just that--my local nature shots (there's also a link to it on my right hand sidebar, fyi. ;)

Congrats on the sale of your photo book to the library system!

And as you have not painted, neither have I. But I mean to start again, soon. It's so hard to keep up with all our creative goals!
