I half "came-to" early in the morning again a little while back and saw thick fog outside, so I dragged my tired butt out of bed, grabbed my camera and headed to the Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve. I spent 2 hours there before the fog finally lifted.
One of the many bluebird houses at the site.
It may be stereotypical, but I converted a number of shots to black and white.

The sun got much higher than this before finally clearing the fog away (around 9:30am.)
There's more to share again, so stay tuned for Part II!
Beautiful pictures Lana! :) The forest looks peaceful....and cold. If I were you, I probably would have wanted to go back to bed but great thing you didn't. Love the B&W pictures. :)
Charles; Yes, you had to work. I'm sorry you didn't get to come along. Hopefully next time. ;)
Halcyon; Considering the subject, even the color shots were mostly grays, anyway. Glad you like the b/w.
Travis C.; Thank you. That's my favorite, too. The fog wasn't as thick, there in the woods, but I like the outcome, anyway. ;)
Funkkeejooce; Thank you. Living in S. Louisiana, it doesn't GET very cold, fortunately. That morning was a sweater morning (& the sweater came off before I left for home.) When it comes to thick fog like this, I'd always rather be out in it, actually. It's so surreal and quiet. Love the experience.
Maalie; Thanks! There are quite a few bluebird conservation efforts in our general area, which is nice to see. We even get them on occasion around our house.
Chrissy; Thanks. :)
Mario; Thank you kindly. I'm glad you like them. :)

OMG! Is there a forest fire nearby???
Just kiddin'. I like your foggy pics. They give off a slightly creepy, surreal, yet tranquil feeling all at once. Well done!
Wish I would have been able to go with you. That might have been the day I had to work. Sigh. Great pics.
These kind of shots look great in B&W. Love the last one especially.
Glad you did!

Great pics. Very surreal.
I like them all, but my favorite is the last one. The composition is excellent.
absolutely beautiful shots! however i would prefer colored ones instead of black n white. my favorite is the first.

Now you've done it, Lana! This is a terrific collection of fog photos. It's really strange how fog can be equally alluring and menacing...
I wonder if there have been any painters who concentrated on fog. Do you know of any?
Absolutely beautiful~ and eerie, too.
Lynda; Thanks! I don't know of any painters who focused primarily on fog, myself. I'll let you know if I come across any, though.
Erik; Thanks. I love fog. :)
What wonderful foggy-day pix. And the black-and-white makes them even better.
I always love your work!
Breathtaking pictures Lana! I remember seeing those Bluebird nest boxes when I visited the Everglades.
Beautiful shots and so atmospheric. I think the B&W works so well for these ~ Lovely :D
Beautiful shots of wonderous scenes emerging from the fog. Love to see this in bw too :)
Sphinx Ink; Thanks, hon. :)

Wow!! A whole book on fog.. I see it... :-)
Michelle; Nice idea! I think I need more fog photos 1st, though. (Believe me, I'm keeping an eye on the weather these days, just in case!)
Beautiful capture, Lana! I love foggy scenes.
Thank, Eileen! :)
