Fog at the Flatwoods, Pt. II + Art

Despite the title of this post, I've posted all of the fog shots that I'm going to in Pt. I. Here are other shots I took while I was there, including some after the fog lifted. WARNING (to those who don't like them); Spiders ahead!

The invasive yet lovely Chinese tallow.

Macro of dew on a plant. Click for detailed view.

I was into dewy macros that morning.

A clump of cut grass that appealed to me.

After the fog lifted, a couple shots of paths in the area.

Boardwalk and dew-covered web.

These grass spider webs are all over down here, but you don't see them unless they're covered in dew, like this one. Click for detailed view.

This dew-draped web (a featured image in the Ovation community photographer's group,) is the last non-spider image in this post.

Spider with pray (possibly an argiope aurantia.)

Mystery spider in dew-draped web.

Green lynx spider. I recommend clicking for the detailed view.

In art news, after work tonight I'll be going straight to the Madisonville Marketplace for their Winter Show opening reception (6-9pm.) Hope to see you there!

You recommended well - the green lynx spider is awesome. It's a picture that can easily come from National Geographic. I love how you captured those tiny details of the spider. Simply awesome!

I love the pictures of the cobwebs as well. I've always been fascinated by them - it looks so fragile but yet so strong.

I think a lot of those ground webs are from baloon spiders. It's amazing how many of them we have all over, in our yard and along the roads by the house.

For Petes sake Lana. You keep taking these gorgeous pictures and I'm gonna end up liking spiders yet. :)

Funkkeejooce; Thanks so much! That's quite the compliment. :) I loved the way the fog was turning to dew on everything--including the spider!

Charles; It's neat the way they're virtually invisible under most weather conditions and then BLAM! They're everwhere...

Dave Coulter; It's a great boardwalk, for sure.

Cloudia; Thank you!

Maalie; Thanks, hon. The boardwalk's really nice to enjoy.

Gale; Thanks, Gale. I appreciate the input!

troutbirder; Despite our natural, human instinct to recoil, there's really quite a lot of beauty in spiders & their webs. I hope to convert you yet. ;)

I like those "pathway" photographs; something about the mysteriousness behind them of what lies ahead.

You really got some nice spiderweb photos.

Lana Gramlich said...

levian; Thanks for the kind comment. I understand that spiders aren't everyone's favorite subject. It's all good. ;)

JR; Thanks. I'm always drawn to such things. I used to have an entire series of "paths & roads" photos for that very reason.

Abe; Thank you. Considering the fog & dew, it was almost impossible NOT to, fortunately!

Do you always use the same camera for your photography? I think I need this camera. You take such beautiful pictures. I love the detail of the webs. Mother Nature is so beautiful.

I can imagine thew cold of the morning and the smell of nature. Ah such a great thing to see. Thanks for dazzling us again.

Thank you for taking us along on your early morning outing! I did not expect such heavy fogs in your parts of the world. Your images are exquisite!

Those dewy webs are just ravishing!

Lana Gramlich said...

Christina; I always use the same 2 cameras, actually. A Canon PowerShot A570IS & a Canon EOS Rebel 300D (I prefer the latter, even though it has fewer MPs.) I recently ordered a new Canon EOS Rebel T2i (18MP,) & am waiting for it's arrival with baited breath!

celticmusicfan; Thanks, hon. Actually, being in the SE U.S., it's not what I'd call "cold." I had a sweater on, but it came off before I left the area. I SOOOO don't miss sn*w!

Merisi; Our area tend to be stupendously wet, generally speaking & where there's water, there's fog potential. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked this post. :)

The Aethernaut; Thanks. They were very lovely to see in person, too!

that´s a collection of beautiful webs. And the dew on the red straw is really goodlooking. Nice as a change from all green ones.

NatureFootstep; Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed. :)

Thanks for the spider warning. I enjoyed the other photographs...even the webs without creepies in them.

Hi Lana,
Why-O-why did I click on the spider?
Fantastic shot - creepy subject.

Good photography isnt only about the equipment --but having a good eye for composition, lines, lighting, movement...ect
Which you do wonderfully! =)

Travis C.; Thanks, hon! NP on the warning. Anything for a fellow Cake afficionado. ;)

Jay.me; Thanks so much, hon. That's very kind of you! :)

Your pictures are amazing. I love the one of the spider! So much detail!! I just have a point and shoot camera. What kind of camera do you use??

Lana Gramlich said...

Ghetto_Owl; Thank you kindly. I liked the spider, too. These photos were taken with a Canon EOS Rebel 300D, although I also have a Canon PowerShot A570IS (& a new, Canon EOS Rebel T2i is currently on it's way to my house.) What kind of point & shoot do you have?
