I love the moss-draped oaks. These photos don't really indicate scale. It would take at least 4 people to join hands around that tree trunk...maybe 5.
There's a white-tailed deer back in there (click for larger view.) Unfortunately I hadn't brought my 300mm zoom that day (for the 1st time in years.) Go figure!
Happy belated birthday to Nick Mason, who turned 67 yesterday.
Such gorgeous shots! The framing in that second shot is superb. And the colors in the last one are incredible. I've only been down south far enough to see trees like these only a few times. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful they are.
Wow, I love love LOVE these pix, especially the first shot. What a fabulous tree. I haven't seen that much moss on trees since I was a kid. I think the air pollution has killed off the tree moss in urban areas. How beautiful it is. And what terrific photography you do!
v; Then the whole area would drive you crazy. *LOL* Can't go anywhere here without seeing Spanish moss!
pilgrimchick; Thanks, hon. There are even more impressive trees around here. We're really lucky that way!
Marvin; I did luck out on the framing of the deer, but I'm still kicking myself for leaving the zoom lens behind. Thanks for the sympathies on our blizzard. I don't know how I got through it! ;)

Beautiful shots, Lana! Love those trees. And I agree with the framing on the second shot with the deer, awesome capture.
The red caught on the bottoms of that moss is amazing.

eileeninmd; Thanks. :) The trees here are truly fantastic.
Charles; I saw it when I turned around at one point to take a few steps back & HAD to take that picture.
Sphinx Ink; Thanks so much, hon. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. We're just blessed to live in an area with so much natural beauty.
Travis C.; That's for sure!

I love all the colors! I would love to visit this place. It looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Halcyon; It's a really cool park and only $1 for day use. Sometimes the gov't gets things right! ;)
As always, just beautiful. I love the way you capture nature.
Nick

Wow!
that's an interesting looking tree, though it makes me want to clean it up. :)
Those are amazing shots of that tree--what a great subject!
Beautiful photos, and the framing on your shot of the deer is awesome.
[BTW: I'm glad you survived your 38-flake blizzard. I know it was a traumatic event for you. :-)]
My experience is that the lens that would make the best shot is always the one that's sitting on the dining room table.
Rico Swaff; Thank you. :)
