One of many red-eared sliders. Native to the Southern U.S., this is the most common turtle pet. Because of pet releases, it's now established in other places.
Looks like a wonderful place to get close to nature. The snow here is finally starting to melt off and I'm looking forward to the greenery and signs of insect and animal life. Thanks for sharing the pics in this and in the earlier post.
Anonymous; Thank you. I've looked into Manchac NWR, but according to the website, it's boat access only, and I have no boat. Besides, I've seen enough swamps and marshes--after a while they all start looking the same (which is why I went on a road trip through the American SW this past Spring--a refreshing change!)

Excellent. I'm a big fan of turtles, especially ~~
Wonderful photo's and great to see some dragonflies...we still have a month to go for that one :)
Thanks for the kind comments, all.
Erik; I love turtles, too. :)
Chrissy; To be honest, dragonflies are near constant around here, there's so many of them!
Beautiful photos of our lovely area of southern louisiana! You should make a trip to Manchac and take some photos there. From a ponchatoula fan.
